How to Configure IBGP

This one comes from my CCNP lab manual and shows how to configure IBGP.

Configuring Route Reflectors Steps

  1. Power up routers and open a terminal emulation program.
  2. Connect Router1 over a console connection.
  3. At the router’s prompt, type enable and press enter.
  4. Type config term and press enter.
  5. Type router bgp 65000 and press enter.
  6. Type neighbor 10.x.1.2 remote-as 65000 and press enter.
  7. Type neighbor 10.x.3.2 remote=as 65000 and press enter.
  8. Type network 100.198.172.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and press enter.
  9. Type network 10.x.a.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and press enter.
  10. Type Ctl-Z.
  11. Rinse and repeat steps 2 to 5 with Router 2.
  12. While still on Router 2, type neighbor 10.x.1.1 remote-as 65000 and press enter.
  13. Type neighbor 10.x.2.2 remote-as 65000 and press enter.
  14. Type network 172.16.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and press enter.
  15. Type network 10.x.2.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and press enter.
  16. Press Ctl-z.
  17. Rinse and repeat steps 2 to 5 with Router 3.
  18. While still on Router 3, type neighbor 10.x.3.1 remote-as 65000 and press enter.
  19. Type neighbor 10.x.2.1 remote -as 65000 and press enter.
  20. Type network 192.168.1.0 mask 255.255.255.0 and press enter.
  21. Type network 10.x.3.0 mask 255.255.255.252 and press enter.
  22. Press Ctl-Z.
  23. Type show ip bgp neighbors and press enter.  (May have to wait a few seconds for the changes to prorogate)
  24. Type show ip bgp and press enter.
  25. Type show ip route and press enter.
  26. Type config term and press enter.
  27. Type router bgp 65000 and press enter.
  28. Type Ctl-Z.
  29. Type show ip route and press enter
  30. Rinse and repeat steps 26 to 29 on Router1 and Router2
